Most of the users on Facebook used to chat and search for something. They know that their chat history is being saved and they know how to remove the old chat history as well. Do you know that search history is also being logged ?
Yes, not only chat history Facebook will log all the search history, like, comment, .. they log everything whatever you do on Facebook. One good thing is it is by default visible to you. If you need to show any thing to specific people it is configurable.
Go to your timeline (for example www.facebook.com/manchinagarjuna) and click on activity log. From there, click the "More" button in the left sidebar to reveal the "Search" option. Click on it to view your search history. If you want to erase it, there's a button in the upper right-hand corner to do just that or if you want to change the privacy settings there will be one more button similar to the privacy button on the Facebook home page.
There is no option to turn off this logging but we look forward whether Facebook gives it or not. Let's hope in positive always that Facebook gives an option to turn off logging.
